Wedding Season!!

Like every other girl, we are obsessed with weddings. Everything from the fancy dresses to the beautiful bride to dancing the night away. What we don’t love? The stress that leads up to it as a wedding guest. What do you wear? What is appropriate to give as a gift? Here are some of our favorite ideas!!

The Dress

Even if it is a little old fashioned, we won’t be breaking the “no white to a wedding” rule just to keep our mothers happy. If it is a city wedding, we try to stay classy and chic. Beach weddings are perfect for breaking out that maxi and sandal. Country weddings call for COLOR and fun patterns! These dresses are all wedding appropriate and can be found at Wish!weddingFINAL

  1. Calypso Azen Dress $275
  2. DVF Oblixe Mini Wrap $375
  3. Trina Turk Leah Dress $266
  4. Milly Slim Sheath $398

The Gift

If a couple went to all the trouble of tagging all of Pottery Barn and starting a registry, we highly advise sticking with that. But if the bride is one of your besties, we like the idea of getting her something special before the wedding, like these ideas!weddingFINAL2

  1. Pinch Provisions Minimergency Kits: These guys really have thought of everything. They have specific kits for brides, bridesmaids, grooms, groomsmen, MOBs and flower girls. This tiny kit is packed with things you never thought you might need, like bobby pins, stain remover, extra earring backs, hairspray and pain reliever. Have a really unprepared bride? This Bridetastic kit is packed with 101 emergency essentials!!
  2. Bar Cart: Get the newlyweds something they wouldn’t think about needing! This bar cart from Society Social is ADORABLE, plus you can custom color it to the couple’s liking. Don’t want to splurge? Go in with friends and deck out the cart!!
  3. Monogram ANYTHING: We would put a monogram on everything we own if it was possible. With a new last name, that’s a whole new monogram! Moon & Lola does the prettiest monograms in all colors and sizes.
  4. Margaret Elizabeth Bangles: Personally, we wear these every single day. They dress up even the simplest of outfits. But put the moonstone and aqua chalcedony together and it screams I’M GETTING MARRIED! This will be our first stop before we head to the altar.

Warby Parker x Effort Not Required!!!

Spring always brings a smile to our faces and we love when we are able to pull out our sunglasses and wander Boston aimlessly. We got introduced to Warby Parker about a year ago and have been huge fans since Day 1. The concept itself is awesome; for every pair of glasses purchased, they donate a pair to someone in need. They firmly believe in doing good. This year, we got the privilege to test drive their Summer Collection, themed Effort Not Required. After picking out our Top 5 favorites for the Home Try On, they arrived at our door 2 days later. We had a ton of fun playing in the Public Garden with Wish’s latest styles while rocking our favorite Warby Parker’s! Which do you love most?

WANDERLUST!

With spring break right around the corner, we can’t help but want to hop on the next plane to a private island. If you have seen our window, you KNOW we have a bad case of wanderlust. Whether you are heading to South Beach, Cabo or just over to the Cape, we have a few tips for any trip.

Keep It Light

When we think of a beach vaca, we think of the bare essentials. No frills, no fuss, just relaxation and comfort. Our wardrobe consists of tunics & bathing suits by day and shift dresses by night. These are our beach essentials and ALL can be found at Wish right now!

We pack everything into our MINE bag, which actually is our go-to bag for ANY situation. What’s in our MINE bag? Only our favorite beach necessities.

BEACH READ

Getaways are the perfect time to catch up on some guilty pleasure reading, whether you are on the plane or lounging on the beach. These are our favorite books of the moment:

Wish Beach Reads

  • Rules of Civility (Amor Towles): High society in New York City. Think Great Gatsby meets Sex and the City.
  • The Fault in Our Stars (John Green): An inspiring story about Hazel and her journey through cancer. Definitely a must read before the movie comes out!
  • The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing (Melissa Bank): An oldie but a goodie. Don’t be fooled by the name, this is more of a walk through the in’s and out’s of love and relationships.
  • Mrs. Kennedy & Me (Clint Hill): An inside look at one of our fashion idols as told by her personal Secret Service agent. You know what happens at the end of the story, but this perspective makes it so much more real.

Where are you headed? If you vaca Wish style, tag us for a chance to be featured!

The internet just GETS us, you know? We want to start April off with our favorite videos right this minute. Ones we think you should check out. Do you have a song, funny pet video or touching moment you think we should check out? Send it our way!!

  • Like, actually LOVE. This is what we have always wanted to put into words but have never known how to phrase properly.

When Love Arrives

  • Who would have thought Honey Maid would touch your heart the way this commercial does?

Honey Maid: Love

  • Tough day? Need a smile? A certain mom sent us this Puppy Cam link to watch a litter of puppies who will grow up to be guide dogs. Try not to smile while you watch these cuties. We’re not going to lie, we sometimes keep it open on our computer just to check on them throughout the day!

  • As we approach the Boston Marathon, we can’t help but think back to last year. We also can’t help but feel immense pride for Boston.

BLOGS!

Some might call it “surfing the web” but we like to refer to it as “research”. Either way, we try to find time each week to browse our favorite blogs. It’s become second nature to us to find celebs wearing Wish’s clothes (we almost ALWAYS do!), but we also like to read about the latest trends in other big cities. So we made a list of our top 4 favorite bloggers!

  • Cupcakes & Cashmere
    • Emily is honest & inspiring. Like Lauren Conrad, but lower key. We love catching her wearing Wish brands (Velvet, Splendid!) but love reading the blog for food & décor ideas… Olympic Cocktail inspired drinks, anyone?

Image

    • Atlantic Pacific
      • Blair is gorgeous and so are her pictures. We love admiring her bold style choices… I mean, the girl rocks Current/Elliott leather skinnies with Converses one day and a Tibi skirt with Valentino pumps and a Madewell sweatshirt the next. Plus we are total fan girls of her hair.

Blair

    • College  Prepster
      • We have been following Carly on her blog for years now and have really seen it take off. Just this winter, she took a trip to Ireland with Barbour to tour their factory… WHAT?! Her preppy style is effortless and her puppy, Teddy, is the cutest thing we’ve ever laid eyes on.

Carly

    • Inspired By This
      • This blog is like a better version of Pinterest. We drool over the home décor, cry/take notes at the weddings and proposals and constantly find new fashion icons in the Inspired By section.  This is the ultimate answer for those looking to majorly procrastinate.

We are always keeping our eye out for new blogs!! Is there a blog you love that we missed? Let us know, we’d love to check it out (but actually).

DATE NIGHT HOTSPOTS!

Whether fresh out of college or married for 30 years, date nights are crucial for any functional relationship. But where to go? You want something different but relaxing and insanely good. As major foodies, trust us when we say that these places are tried and true for us… we can’t get enough.

• Puritan & Co. (Cambridge):
From the pork shoulder to charred octopus with pesto to rye gnocci , this place truly is jawdropping. It is incredibly modern, but you will feel SO cool sitting in there. AND they just recently acquired their full liquor license-think hot cocoa with chartreuse or hot mulled wine. Friend them on Facebook to score $1 Oysters, sign up for Fish & Game Night and drool over their Brunch specials. We dare you to try to have just 1 of their sea salt rolls. Inside tip- ask to sit at the chef’s table… you’ll thank us later.
c/o P&Co. Facebook

• Tip Tap Room (Beacon Hill)
Make your man’s day and take him to a place that is based around meat & beer. This place is perfect for a more social date night. All kinds of tips: steak, chicken, turkey, antelope. And an ever changing, never ending selection of beers. A reservation is 100% necessary, but totally worth it (especially if you can score a table in Peter’s section). The salads are phenomenal, but so is the rock shrimp appetizer and pecan pie with cinnamon ice cream!!
c/o boston.eater

• Butcher Shop (South End)
While getting a table at a reasonable hour here is tough, finding something amazing to eat is not. World-renowned chef Barbara Lynch does it again, with food you would never think to order at dinner (hot dog, anyone?) and pairs it with an upscale modern vibe. The French/Italian menu is constantly changing but the charcuterie and wine is always top notch. Do your tummy a favor though, and have your man face the huge cooler of meat.
http://www.inc.com/welcome.html?destination=http://www.inc.com/magazine/20081101/how-i-did-it-barbara-lynch-barbara-lynch-gruppo.html

• Met (Back Bay)
We are drooling at just the thought of The Met at Back Bay. Holy crispy brussel sprouts. The ham and cheese bar? YUM. This place is perfect for those who prefer regular comfort food, although every item here has a bit of a twist. Finish eating early so you can grab a huge glass of wine in the ever so romantic Library! We’re not gonna lie… Sunday mornings you MIGHT catch us in there, reading a book, mimosa in hand.

ST. PADDY’S DAY!

It isn’t easy being green…but it is easy to find ways to celebrate the holiday. We are sharing some of our favorite things about today. And let us take this moment to be cliché and say that we feel very LUCKY to have you reading our blog!! xoxo

  • The Sparkling Shamrock

If an Irish Car Bomb is a little too… Irish, and the thought of drinking green beer grosses you out, we’ve found the easiest, classiest, most perfect solution. Taryn from Formal Fringe made it as easy as pouring a glass full of your favorite bubbly and top it with a little Midouri (Japanese melon liqueur) and you’re all set!! Don’t leave the kids out—there’s nothing wrong with a little green food coloring mixed with sparkling cider! GENIUS.   Full Recipe here

  • Thin Mint Puppy Chow

There are few things we won’t do for a Thin Mint. So when we found this idea from Shugary Sweets, we were all about it. Whatever you called it as a kid: Puppy Chow, Trash or Muddy Buddies, you surely have tried this… but did you ever put this spin on it? Trade the milk chocolate for MINT chocolate and add minty m&m’s and you’ve got yourself the best indulgence ever.  Full Recipe here

Thin Mint Puppy Chow

  • Pot of Gold Irish Potato Soup

If you weren’t hungry before, you will be after you see this. Clearly, the Irish have no concern about calories, so who are we to turn this down? Plus the little clover on top of the bowl is just adorable. While it may be a little time consuming, it sure does look worth it!! Full Recipe here

  • DVF + Green

Although Diane is Belgian born, she sure does know how to make green look GOOD. Here are our favorite DVF Irish-themed pieces!!

INSTAGRAMMERS

We adore Instagram… if you didn’t already know. Fangirl-ing over our fashion icons, oohing and ahhing at tropical getaways and awwwing at precious moments with kids, there are few things we don’t double tap! After much debate, we have narrowed it down to our current Top 4 Insta Obsessions! Who’s Instagrams are you loving right now?

@2SISTERS_ANGIE

                So for a little background, read this article about Angie and Mayhem. Mayhem loves fashion, loves to design her own dresses and at the beautiful age of 4, has an imagination that is limitless. We love to see what supplies from around the house Angie & Mayhem use to create their look of the day. Oh, to be four again!

@2sisters_angie

@therealoliviap

                Olivia Palermo is the ultimate It Girl. After briefly starring on MTV’s The City in 2009, she has truly taken over Page Six and all of New York City. Her fashion is so effortless and her life just screams CHIC. Now that she is engaged to German model Johannes Huebel, all she does is travel and look glamorous. We are constantly drooling.

@therealoliviap

@thechampagnediet

Cara founded this concept of creating a “Dom Perignon life on a Korbel budget” and we have fully embraced this. Her Instagram is filled with inspiring quotes, encouraging words for celebrating YOU, and of course, beautiful pictures of champagne. It has now expanded to a website, a book and an actual diet.

@thechampagnediet

@thiswildidea

Theron and his ever so patient Coonhound Maddie travel all over, helping dogs find a loving home and taking the most interesting pictures along the way. This sweet girl balances on fire hydrants, allows Theron to wrap her in Christmas lights and rides shot gun on every car ride. It is amusing to look to see  what on Earth Maddie will be on next, but it’s truly beautiful to see how this odd pair has changed the world for the better.
